Dr.
Victoria Bustamante is a native of Madrid, Spain. Her family moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she was raised. She began her
college education in Caracas at the Catholic University Andres Bello where she obtained her bachelor degree in Clinical
Psychology. In 1982 she moved to the United States and completed her Masters Degree at The Johns Hopkins University.
Afer working for Maryland's Developmental Disability Administration, She moved to Miami where she obtained
her Doctoral Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Neuropsychology from Carlos Albizu University.
Professionally she has a wealth of experience, including serving
as a faculty member for the University of Miami Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. As a behavioral medicine
specialist, she has worked with patients and families affected by HIV, cancer, and neurological disorders including the
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
She has participated
in several research studies sponsored by the National Institute of Health and has published articles on a broad range
of topics including PTSD, HIV and neuropsychological changes associated with medical illness.
Currently, she is the clinical coordinator for a
Behavioral Medical Specialty Clinic at Jackson Memorial Hospital and continues working as a voluntary faculty member for the
University of Miami, Department of Psychiatry, where she supervises post doctoral psychology students and psychiatric residents.
